Fort Berthold Community College

Fort Berthold Community College is committed to training community leaders and classroom teachers. Across the United States, the percentage of Native Americans working as instructors in tribally-based elementary and secondary schools has increased dramatically in the thirty years since tribal colleges began opening their doors.

Today one in five American Indian students of higher education is enrolled in a tribal college. Native American leaders believe these colleges combine goals of community colleges nationwide with tools that will ensure the survival of tribal culture and history. And Native American institutions of higher education provide benefits beyond an academic degree. Based in tribal communities, they contribute to the local economy as well as inspire a sense of community empowerment.
