Immersed in the Language

The curriculum at Nizipuhwahsin was designed by staff of the Piegan Institute, an affiliated Native American educational organization, and conforms to Montana state guidelines.

The students are divided by age and skill into three classrooms serving kindergarten through grade eight. Although English is a secondary language at Nizipuhwahsin, most students who have transferred to other schools have performed well above the expectations for their assigned grade levels.

To date, eleven students have graduated from Nizipuhwahsin; seven of them became members of the Honors Society at their high schools. The graduating class of 2005 is the largest yet.
