This letter is a copy by Robert Beale (1541-1601) of the report to Elizabeth's Privy Council by Henry Grey, Earl of Kent, one of the official witnesses to the execution of Mary Queen of Scots. It describes how Beale delivered the warrant to Kent, who proceeded hastily with Mary's death sentence.
