A Failed Campaign

A massive effort, the Peninsula Campaign involved more than 115,000 soldiers and tons of equipment that slowed the effort down. Its equally massive failure played a key role in prompting Lincoln to reconsider his views and reverse his position on slavery from one of acceptance to one of eradication in order to defeat the Confederacy and save the Union.
