The Peristyle and the South Pier provided a grand water entrance to Chicago’s 1893 World’s Fair. The forty-eight columns that comprise the Peristyle represent the States of the Union and the territories. The Music Hall is visible in the lower left corner; the Peristyle and Grand Arch connect it to the Casino (not visible). |
