Almost 250 years after Elizabeth's reign, Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) draws on Laneham's description of the 1575 Progress for the climax of Kenilworth, his romantic and tragic tale about Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, and his wife Amy Robsart.
