Transcribing Modern Manuscripts

Letters

Transcribe letters drawn from the Newberry’s Modern Manuscripts Collections, a repository of American manuscripts from the mid-18th through the 20th centuries. Mostly penned by members of a multi-generational immigrant family, the Everetts, whose members crisscrossed the country and settled in South Carolina, Kansas, and beyond, these letters provide first-hand accounts of everyday life in America during the late 19th century.
